The first room to be renovated was the master bedroom.
Because we have a king size bed which is too heavy for us to move it around, we wanted to fix the room before the mover date.
This was how the room looked originally.
We were glad that the ceiling and carpet were in good condition, but the wallpaper definitely had to go.
The wallpaper was thankfully the peel-off type, so removing it wasn't too painful. But washing glue off the wall was still a messy business!
Well, under the wallpaper, we found the plaster wall with many holes, cracks and stains. Neither of us had ever lived in such an old house before, so we had to do some serious research about plaster walls and how to repair them.
Honza quickly became the master plasterer!
After the wall plasters repaired, primed, and painted.
The room looks so clean and bright already!
Now that the walls were all white, the wood trim didn't look so dated. But the wood was very weathered and had many cracks, so we decided to paint over them.
Add a new ceiling fan, curtains on the windows, and the furniture...now that's more like it!
Let's do it again, side by side...
A je to!
