Thanksgiving is fast approaching!
We really needed to get rid of the circus striped walls for the sake of guests' sanity.

After the wall papers peeled and the ceiling tiles removed, we find yet again numerous holes and cracks.

Filled the opening with more lath, applied mesh tape and plastered over it.
Holes and cracks, be gone!
By removing the tiles, we've raised the ceiling by about 5 inches. He also moved the electrical wiring that was on the tile frame into the ceiling, with a bracket strong enough to hold a ceiling fan screwed into beams.
After a coat of primer, it's getting better!
